Obituary of Russell "Frank" Brixey
Russell “Frank” Brixey, 77, passed away June 6, 2022 at home. Frank was born January 30, 1945 in
Seattle, WA.
As an infant, the family moved to Southern California where he grew up. In the early 70’s, he began
working for Kmart and was eventually transferred up to Walla Walla, WA. In April 1975, Frank had an
opportunity to begin a career with the Dept. of Corrections at Walla Walla Penitentiary. He then
transferred to Washington Corrections Center in Shelton. When the state decided to lease the Federal
Penitentiary on McNeil Island in 1981, Frank was one of the first officers to transfer to that facility to
assist with opening it as a state prison. He retired in August 30, 2005.
Frank is survived by Colleen, his wife of 36 years, as well as his children Timothy, Danyel, Jerilee (Daniel),
Matthew (Laura) and Shannon. Additionally are grandchildren Chelsea, Sammantha, Payton, Bryson,
Jaxynn and Ayvaleigh, great-grandson, Talon, brothers Earl and Tom, sister Sue, and many cousins,
nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Lorrain, sisters Betty and Mary, and brothers
Bill and Kit.
Frank had many friends throughout his life. Four in particular were very dear to his heart: Billie Dannen
(Mother of Tim and Danyel), Shannon Hurley (his childhood friend), Jerri (his mother-in-law) and Mary
Clark (who he fondly referred to as his cousin-in-law).
Anyone who knew Frank knew he loved his dogs. He particularly loved the Miniature Schnauzer and
Boston Terrier breeds. He’s now with D’Artagnan, Mitzi, Myriah, Kreah & Sophie again. He leaves behind
Sadie, Shotzie, Shelbie, Mollie and Tank.
Celebration of life services will be held at Lacey Community Center, 6729 Pacific Ave SE, Olympia, WA
98503 on July 6, 2022 beginning at 2pm.
