Obituary of Donald L Pauley

Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donald Lee Pauley was born on December 11, 1937, to Barbara and Frank Pauley. Don passed away on August 25, 2022, at Mason General Hospital. Don lived most of his life in Shelton, with exception to the time he served with the U.S. Army. He received an Honorable Discharge for his service in 1967. Back in 1967 a small group of friends, with an interest in restoring and preserving the history of vintage and older automobiles, got together, and formed 'Yesteryear Car Club' of Shelton, WA. Then comes along a quiet, unassuming young man named Don Pauley, who went on to be one of the Club's oldest, active members. You could always find Don at any swap meet or car event and he had an extensive car collection of his own. He had a vast knowledge of cars and was always willing to share this information with others. Later in life he found his soul mate, Mary Kay, and together they brought each other such joy and happiness. Don was a "true gentleman" and will be deeply missed. His Step-son Dan Cederlund remembers Don Pauley as perfect gentleman. He was the founding member of the 'Yesteryear Car Club' and an avid collector. One day I was looking at an early 60's convertible he owned, it was red with a white top, red and white interior, this car has won awards at car shows. I notice in the middle of the beautifully upholstered back seat a small hole about the size of your little finger. I say to Don, "What's with the hole?" He says, "Oh one of the cheerleaders put her spike heel thru it during a parade". Knowing Don, he probably asked her if she was okay, if her ankle needed some ice, never mentioning the seat, a perfect gentleman! I think I will leave the hole in the seat; it always reminds me of Don and the type of man I would like to live up to. He is survived in life by his wife Mary Kathleen Pauley, two stepsons and their wives, Daniel and Lauralee Cederlund, and Donald and Denise Cederlund, seven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Shelton Presbyterian Church, immediately followed by burial services at Shelton Memorial Park.
