Obituary of Wanda Bernice Settle-Nordby

Wanda Bernice Settle-Nordy (Ristine), 88, passed peacefully on October 14th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family in the home she had lived in for 69 years. It just so happens that is the same day as our Dad also died, nine years ago. Mom was best known for the unrivaled support of all her son's athletic abilities. Many folks in our little town will recall her cheering and whistling in the stands, she was truly a legend. Many years later, her much younger daughter's friends recall her as a kind "neighborhood mom" to all of the "strays." She always had room at the table, a seat in the car, and space in her heart for any kid in need. She will be missed. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Thomas and Pearl Ristine, her first and second husband Merv Settle, Ken Nordby and sadly, two of her grandsons, Dan and Jamie. Wanda is survived by her five children Cary, Rob, Steve, Marty, and Teresa Settle; yes the Settles had a girl. She also leaves behind a legacy of 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren, also, her two brothers, Lyle and Bob Ristine. There will be a memorial service on November 19th at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, a potluck will follow.
