Obituary of Helen A Hughes
Helen A. Hughes, 88 was born to Thomas and Johanna Hughes on May 25, 1926, in Le Mars, Iowa. She died at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington, on December 29, 2014.
She had four sisters, Harriet, Kathleen, Mildred and Mary and three brothers, Thomas, Leon and Walter. Helen is survived by her twin sister, Mary Tidd of Shelton, Washington and many nieces and nephews.
Helen spent most of her life in Le Mars, Iowa, and she worked for 30 years at the American Legion. After she retired she moved to Shelton, Washington to live with her sister, Mary and Mary’s husband Donald. She loved to go for walks and visit all the neighbors and their pets. In March, 2014, she moved with her sister to Alpine Way Independent Living Apartments also in Shelton. She leaves behind many friends from Le Mars that she kept in touch with as well as all the friends she made in Shelton.
Helen was a Life Member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local animal shelter in memory of Helen and her love of animals.
