Cherie Lee Skagen was born in Olympia Washington on September 26, 1942. She entered Heaven’s gates on February 1, 2023, after a fierce battle with cancer. Cherie was a fighter throughout her journey with this disease. A loving wife and mom. Cherie and her husband Dave were married 63 years and both so proud of that. They loved each other so very much for better or worse. Cherie enjoyed gatherings with family and friends at her home, most especially over the holidays. Cherie was famous with family and friends for her homemade spaghetti she enjoyed making for all. Cherie had a wonderful sense of humor even as she was battling this disease. She was quick with whit which generated much laughter. Cherie and Dave loved going out for lunch on Fridays and occasionally meet up with daughter Kim for Friday lunch. Cherie loved the ocean, and she loved Hawaii the sunsets and palm trees. Cherie also was passionate about her dogs. She had so many over the years all so loved by her. Along with family and friends her 3 dogs Radar, Recon and Squiggy miss her so much. Cherie also had a passion for horses. When she had her horses she showed them in performance classes, did hunter jump events, and an occasional trail ride. Cherie had a big heart when it came to her family, friends and her pets. She always worried and wanted to make sure all was okay. Cherie was predeceased by her youngest brother Joe Martin. She was also predeceased by her mother Donelda Wortherly and father John Martin. Cherie is survived by her husband Dave Skagen, daughters Kim Anderson (husband Kelly Plandel), Kristi Vaughan (husband Robert Vaughan) and Vicki Jorgensen (husband Glen Weeks). She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, and a large number of great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Tim Martin (wife Linda), and Rick Martin (wife Marjorie) along with many nieces and nephews. Per Cherie’s wishes there will be no funeral services.
