Obituary of Sue Carol Grohe

Sue Carol (Garner) Grohe, 72, died of pulmonary disease January 22, 2015, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. She was a ten year resident of Union. She was born January 18, 1943 to Raymond and Jane (Waite) Garner in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. They raised her in Livingston, New Jersey, where she graduated from Livingston High School in 1961. Sue married Marc Arthur Grohe, a first lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, on May 9, 1964, in Caldwell, New Jersey. She worked as a dental assistant and a real estate sales agent. She was a member of the the Beta Sigma Phi International Service Organization serving a term as local chapter president. She also volunteered as a nurse's aid, working in hospital children's wards. Sue was an avid reader of novels, which began in her teenage years. She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, tennis, boating and water aerobics. Her main passion was swimming, especially in the Hawaiian Islands and in her home waters of Hood Canal. She was embodied with a positive and outgoing personality which enabled her to connect with and befriend people of all ages. She was a consummate mother who cared for and loved her family above all else. She is survived by her husband Marc Grohe of Union; sons Bart Grohe of Issaquah and Greg (Kellie) Grohe of Olympia; daughter Kirsten Grohe of Tumwater; brother Robert (Sharon) Garner of Jefferson, New Hampshire; grandsons Patrick, Trenten and Colton; and great-granddaughter Rohnni. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Jane Garner. A family remembrance will be held in August, 2015. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to the American Cancer Society.
