Obituary of Steven Manning Renecker

On Wednesday, July 26th, 2023, the world lost a kind-hearted soul as Steve Renecker, a loving husband, devoted father of 2, and proud grandfather of 4, passed away peacefully at the age of 73. Born on September 10th, Steve was a lifelong resident of Shelton, a town that witnessed the growth of an extraordinary individual. He was the son of Charles (Chuck) and Elizabeth (Betty) Renecker, who preceded him in death. Steve touched the lives of countless individuals with his warmth, wit and kindness. Steve's life took a beautiful turn when he met the love of his life, Diana (Deemer), in 1966. From that serendipitous moment, their hearts became entwined, and they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that lasted for decades. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them, an unbreakable bond that will last for eternity. In his youth, Steve was an avid car enthusiast, and his passion led him to work at Marv’s Exxon. Among his cherished possessions was his beloved 1957 Chevy, which he lovingly cared for. In 1968, he graduated from Shelton High School, and in September of the same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Diana, starting a beautiful chapter in their lives. As the family grew, Steve found work at Simpson Timber Company, where he dedicated himself to providing for his loved ones. Over four decades of dedicated service, he contributed to the timber industry and built lasting friendships with his colleagues. In 1969, Steve and Diana welcomed their daughter, Mechille, into the world, followed by the arrival of their son, Steven (fondly known as Beaver), in 1972. As a devoted father, Steve nurtured and guided his children, always offering unwavering support and love as they grew into the wonderful individuals they are today. With the arrival of daughter-in-law Jennifer (Welander) and son-in-law Kelly Melvin, Steve's heart expanded even further. He was thrilled to welcome his four grandchildren, Kaytlin Melvin, Grace Renecker, Jared Melvin, and Chloe Renecker, into his life. Their laughter and happiness brought immense joy to Steve's life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Apart from his immediate family, Steve is survived by his sister Marilyn (Renecker) Kulavik, brother Dennis Renecker, and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. His love and influence reached far beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of many. Steve found joy in simple pleasures, such as playing golf, cooking, and engaging in any hobby his children or grandchildren wanted to explore. From building Lego masterpieces to reading books together, he savored these shared moments, cherishing the time spent with his loved ones. As we bid farewell to Steve, we celebrate the memories that will forever be etched in our hearts. His love, warmth, wit and presence will continue to guide and inspire those he leaves behind. While we mourn the loss of a remarkable man, we are grateful for the legacy of love he leaves behind.
