Obituary of Randy Endicott

Please share a memory of Randy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Randy Endicott, beloved husband, brother, friend, father, grandfather and teacher, went home to be with Jesus on August 22, 2023, at 69 years old, following a brief battle with lymphoma. Randy was born in May 1954 to Richard and Rachel Endicott. He grew up a country boy in Hoodsport, Washington, and he carried on the family traditions of hiking, camping, trout fishing, and exploring the outdoors throughout his life. He graduated from Shelton High School in 1972, and Seattle Pacific University in 1976 with a degree in elementary education, majoring in PE. Randy married his childhood crush Sheryl Sund on December 16th, 1978, and they soon bought a house in Hoodsport where they raised four children. Being an elementary school teacher was Randy’s lifelong career and one of his many joys. He taught for one year at Hood Canal Junior High before beginning his time at Mason County Christian School where he taught various grade levels, and sometimes acted as principal and administrator, for the next 45 years. His students remember him as a fun-loving teacher who played with them, cared for them, and poured his heart into whatever activities he did with them: outdoor adventures, music, sports, art, drama, and more. In addition to teaching, Randy was very active in his local church. He led Sunday worship for many years at Bridge Community Church, Family Bible Fellowship, and (most recently) Hood Canal Community Church. Randy was passionate about music as a way to praise God. He enjoyed helping young musicians learn to play together, and also loved informal singalongs, especially with gospel music. Randy is survived by his wife Sheryl, sister Rhonda, brothers Rick and Rob, daughters Emily, Betsy, and Lucy, son Luke, and 17 grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of people who were touched and changed by his contagious humor, joy, and love of people. He practiced what he preached and lived out his faith in Jesus Christ in numerous tangible ways. He leaves a big hole, but passes on a big faith. The memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 6:00 pm in the Shelton High School auditorium. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mason County Christian School.
