Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Josephine Ann Lusignan January 17, 1935 ~ October 22, 2023 Born to Rupert and Anna (West) Ravsten in Logan, UT, and was joined by brother Layne, arriving four years later. Mom’s early childhood was spent in Grand Coulee, WA, as her father was a welder and worked on the Grand Coulee Dam. Her family moved to Spokane in her mid-grade school years. She graduated from West Valley High School in 1952 and headed to the University of Washington. This is where she met her match, Guy Lusignan. She graduated and she spent a year student-teaching on Bainbridge Island. The end of that year, Guy graduated and they were married in Spokane the next day June 17, 1957. They started their family two years later. As planned, Mom ran the house and Dad went to work. She loved raising her children, taking care of the home and being involved with her many friends at church and Children's Hospital Orthopedic Guild, as well as many other groups and activities.  Mom gave so much of herself, unconditional love, a listening ear, wise advice, and lots of fun and adventure. She was a den leader when her sons, Eric and Peter were in boy scouts and Brownies and 4-H leader when her daughters, Jann and Mollie were involved. She was an accomplished cook, baker, seamstress, artist, flower gardener and floral arranger, party-giver/hostess, and upholsterer, fixer of things and hearts and loved life. When her youngest were getting to high school she went to get her 5th year college to get her teaching degree. She started teaching 3rd grade at Southside School in 1980 which she thoroughly loved for the next 20 years until she retired. Mom was always positive and such an encourager. She made holidays and birthdays so full of fun and magical. She had a gift for making one feel special, loved and cared for. Mom and Dad were always up for an adventure, they enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. Mom's smile, bright blue twinkling eyes, love and hugs are tremendously missed. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Guy, who passed in 2022 after 64 years of marriage and her eldest son, Eric. She is survived by her brother, Layne; son, Peter Lusignan, and daughters Jann Lusignan and Mollie (Keith) Zaring. She is also survived by grandchildren Stacey, Reid, Rachel and Paige; great-grandchildren Tyler, Adrianna, Hailey and Ethan; nieces and a nephew. Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church - 1212 Connection St., Shelton, WA, November 18th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital. All are welcome, please come and share your memories and stories.
