Obituary of Marc Hopkins

Please share a memory of Marc to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In loving memory of Marc Alan Hopkins Born August 20, 1979- Went home to be with our Savior December 28, 2023 Marc was born in Olympia, Wa to his parents Sue and Dick. He lived in Shelton most of his life where he had many different jobs as a cook throughout his life. He loved to cook for the ones he loved, especially his family. He was a very kind, hardworking,image0.jpeg very patient man who was always willing to give a helping hand where he could. Marc battled with an alcohol addiction for the majority of his life as well as meth, marijuana and cigarettes but in the year 2023 gave his life to Jesus and was able to surrender that all to Him. He was clean from methamphetamine for about 6 years and was using methadone to help him become and stay clean. In 2023 Marc made the decision to start to taper himself off of the methadone to be completely free of it. Shortly after stopping the methadone he was attending church with his wife(Briana Hopkins) at New Horizons Church of God where he grew more and more interested in Gods word and what He willed for his life as well as his family’s. Marc surrendered his addictions to Christ and started to walk with God to quit the daily use of alcohol, marijuana, and cigarettes. He was almost 8 months free from the methadone as well as marijuana this January 2024. He was 6 months free from all alcohol this January 2024. He was 3 months free from cigarettes January 2024, and while he was staying in the hospital he was 3 weeks free from nicotine patches as well! He always was quick to share his testimony of how he was able to so easily be freed from these addictions by Gods grace. So we will continue to share his testimony for him until it is time for us to be with him again. Marc enjoyed playing music in the footsteps of his father. He loved Playing guitar and started to have an interest in drums. He loved to listen to 80s country music and dance and sing while cooking his family dinners or on drives. He often made up silly lyrics instead of singing the originals and always made everyone around him laugh and smile. He always tried to keep all situations lighthearted. He loved his 3 children and 4 step children and was so proud of all of them! He enjoyed seeing their achievements and how they changed constantly. He got to spend the last 6 months of his life working with his wife delivering groceries for Walmart which also helped contribute to his sobriety. He had many friends and acquaintances he made over the years who were touched by him in memorable ways. He is survived by His wife (Briana Hopkins), His three children (Molly Hopkins, Ethan Hopkins, and Hudson Hopkins), his 4 step children, Brothers(Rick and Michael Brown), Sisters( Dana, Leslie Davison, Lindsay Mead, and Alicia Glenn), many nieces and nephews as well as his grandmother(Dee LaMarsh) He is preceded in death by his Father(Richard Hopkins), his mother( Sue LaMarsh), and sister(Shannon). The photo pictured is from Marc’s water baptism Nov. 26, 2023. He was so excited to fully give his life to The Lord. There will be a celebration of his life January 13, 2023 at New Horizons Church of God. 307 East F Street Shelton, Wa 98584 2:00pm
