Obituary of Frances Croskrey

Frances Easter Croskrey passed away on the 6th of January 2024 peacefully, at home, in Shelton. She was born on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1929. She spent first 12 years in the small town of Valier MT. It was the depression and they lived in a small house. Her mom raised all their food and it was canned on a coal burning stove. In 1942 the family moved to Kalispell. In 1946, William Croskrey, a sailor home from World War II and looking for a place to stay. That room was in the home of Frances and so began the love story for the ages. Bill and Frances married on May 28, 1949; two daughters quickly followed. In the mid 1950’s they moved to Spokane WA, where two more daughters joined the family. In 1962 the family moved to Renton, WA. Frances and Bill lived in Renton for the next 20 years. While living in Renton and raising her family, she worked full time. She provided beautifully hand made clothing, canned vegetables and provided a nice family life for all. She worked in the food service industry all her life. In 1980 they purchased property in Shelton. They moved to their property in 1985, mom called it their little piece of heaven. They lived at this location for 40 years. Frances worked at Kings Table in Olympia for several years. After she retired, she volunteered at Oly Child Care where she baked cookies for several years. She and Bill spent their retirement traveling and camping; they raised a large garden and canned vegetables. Frances enjoyed going to Curves in Shelton and West Olympia for many years. She enjoyed the Shelton Athletic Club also, she joined in the Silver Sneaker work outs and used to pool. ​ Frances lost Bill in September 2017, they were together 71 years and married for 68 years. She is survived by four daughters; Joellen (John) Martens; Ginger Davis; Jill (Robert) Edwards; and Joy Roszel; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
