Obituary of Arthur Enger

Please share a memory of Arthur to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Arthur L. “Bud” Enger, 91, long time resident of Shelton, passed away January 13, 2024, surrounded by family. Bud was born July 3, 1932 in Dickinson North Dakota to Arthur L. and Lillian Enger. He moved to Miles City Montana at a young age. He left Montana to serve in the United State Army during the Korean War. After returning to the states, Bud and Army comrade, Major Gray, were stationed at Fort Lewis. One night, the two men attended a dance in Olympia where they would both meet two sisters, who would become their wives, shortly after. Bud married Mildred Lowry on October 17, 1952. Bud and Mildred moved to Port Orchard to raise their four boys and over the years several foster teens. Bud worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a crane operator in Shop 38 and retired after 37 years. They eventually bought a large plot of land in Shelton to build a home/farm with the help of their boys. Each of the four boys built their own homes near each other. This area is known as “Engerville”. Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. He was a hard-working man, as he and Mildred raised a lot of animals on their farm over the years. Bud was a dog lover and had several miniature pinschers over the years. Those dogs were always sitting in his lap when he sat down. He loved his family and was blessed to help raise his grandkids, also. Bud is survived by his sons, Mel Enger (Cathy) of Shelton, Ron Enger (Jude) of Shelton, Jerry Enger (Johanna) of Shelton, and Terry Enger of Shelton. He was Grandpa Bud to Nikki Stevens (Mark) of Shelton, Stephanie Enger, Melanie Womack (Frank) of Long Beach, Justin Enger of Shelton, Shaunna Robb (Travis) of Deer Park, Ashley Bates (Tyler) of Potlach Idaho and Josh Enger (Megan) of Shelton. He was Great Grandpa to Noah McDonald, Kaia Johnson, Bailey Womack, Saige Womack, Avree Womack, Kimber Bates, Brinley Bates, Huntly Enger and Halsey Robb. Bud has numerous nephews and nieces in the Chehalis area. He is proceeded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mildred (Lowry) Enger, Brother-in-law Major Gray, Sister-in-law Marion (Lowry) Gray and his Mom and Dad. There will be a celebration of life with family and close friends planned in the future to honor Bud.
