Grant Lewis Foster, 73 , of Shelton, Washington departed this earthly plane on Sunday, May the 26th of 2024, after a 7 - month battle with cancer. Grant passed away peacefully at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, in the company of his beloved son , Neil. Grant was a kind , hardworking, loving and joyful man, loved by many and who will now watch over us, as he reunites with his high school sweetheart, love of his life and lifelong partner of over 50 years, Tina. Grant ’s early life took place between several cities, from Spokane, where he was born to Georgia and Lewis, to Seattle, California, Olympia and Tumwater . At age 13, Grant was already interested in design and architecture. He was very independent and determined from a very young age, knew exactly what he wanted in life and went after it. He graduated in 1969 from Tumwater High School, where he excelled in sports and mathematics and where he met his high school sweetheart, Tina, whom he married in 1971. He later transferred to Washington State University and graduated with a degree in Architecture. Today his residential and commercial work can be seen throughout Western Washington, Mason County and Shelton, where he and Tina finally settled in the late 1970s and raised their only son Neil. Grant became a very active and well-respected member of the Shelton community, where in 1986 he co-founded Foster & Williams Architects in Downtown Shelton, volunteered, led, and served in several local nonprofits and organizations throughout the years, including the Shelton Skookum Rotary, Shelton Kiwanis, Shelton Centennial Lions Club and Exceptional Foresters. Grant retired mid - 2010s and lived his retiree life to the fullest by devoting his time to embarking on great big adventures with Tina and exploring all around our beautiful country, cheering on the Seahawks, and Cougars and caring for his home and neighborhood. Grant was predeceased by his beloved wife Tina and his sister Laura Quiñones (Frank). He is survived by son Neil Foster (Isabel), sister Lisa Foster (Bill Thomas), niece Aubrey Thomas, nephew Connor Thomas, his beloved “teenage ” grandpuppy Tango, and his close-knit group of neighbors and friends who cared for him well into his last days. He will be deeply missed but joyfully remembered for shining his light on all of us . His devotion and everlasting love story with Tina has taught us what true love and partnership is, and we hope their light continues to shine through us. As per Grant's request, no funeral or memorial services will be held.
