Obituary for
Duane B. Nault Sr
1944-2024
With great sadness the family of Duane B. Nault Sr announces his passing on June 15, 2024. Duane was
born on August 4, 1944 to Wilfred and Virginia Nault in Negaunee, MI. Duane moved to Shelton,
Washington during WWII where he lived most of his life, and where he went to school and raised his
family. Duane worked and retired from PUD #1 in Hoodsport in 1999 where he was a lineman for many
years before promoting to superintendent.
He loved his coffee and conversation, was a huge sports fan, president of his horseshoe club, loved
camping with family and spending his winters south with his wife Donna until health issues forced him to
sell his RV and beloved truck. He loved sitting around a campfire singing and playing his guitar with his
brother Gerald.
Duane was deeply loved by his family and was a friend to everyone offering help to those in need and
always saw the good in people. He was a simple man with no frills or whistles except for his sense of fun
and humor. He was a man of strong belief, moral character and best described by his family as a devoted
and loving husband, a supportive and affectionate father and a funny and generous grandfather and
great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Donna, and children Duane B. Nault Jr (Robin), Kelly Scott (Steve), Dannielle
Knutson, three step-children, Lori Chappell, Clint Arney (Michelle) and Kurt Arney (Sarah). Thirteen
Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren, often referred to by family members as the Brady Bunch. He
loved and cherished all of them.
Duane will be deeply missed and this quote by Martin Luther King best describes him, “If I cannot do
great things, I can do small things in a great way.”
His charity of choice is Care Net, Samaritan’s Purse and Providence Hospice who took excellent
supportive care of Duane and his family during his final days.
A celebration of life will held at Calvary Chapel Olympia at 919 Division ST NW, Olympia, WA 98502
beginning at 1pm.
