Obituary of John DeWaele

John Edmond De Waele 01/29/47 – 7/16/24 John Edmond De Waele (77) of Grapeview, WA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on July 16, 2024. John, fondly known as Big John, was born to Thomas and Adeline De Waele in Seattle, WA. He worked for the Highline School District maintenance department where he retired 25 years later as a carpenter foreman. Post retirement he worked for Hertz Car Rental. John leaves behind his wife of 56 wonderful years, Sharon, their son Joe and wife Allison, daughter Patty and husband Matt. He also leaves behind six grandchildern, Johnny, Jessica, Rachel, Wes, Trevor, Jake, and Jarrett and many nieces and nephews. John was raised in the Georgetown Seattle area and went to Cleveland High School. He and Sharon then made their home in Auburn, WA for 40 plus years. They purchased their dream home and retired at Emerald Lake in Grapeview, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Louis and sister-in-law Shirley. John was a loving husband and father. He led an amazing life and enjoyed coaching soccer, camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with family. He told amazing stories and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
