Obituary of Cherrie Reitsch

Please share a memory of Cherrie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On December 15, 2024, Cherrie Patricia Reitsch went home to be with Jesus. Cherrie was born in Ellensburg, WA in 1945 to Arthur Gregory and Bernice Hartzog (Gregory). She married Douglas John Reitsch in 1966. She was mom to five children, grandma to 16 grandchildren and great grandma to 4 great grandchildren. She was a pianist and organist and could sight read music. She was creative and shared her love of crafts and books with her family. Cherrie and Doug lived a full and active life. After marriage they moved to Alaska for 5 years. Then their trek took them to Minnesota for 9 years. All the while Cherrie was eager to move back to Washington. She said she didn’t want her children to think that snow just blew across the land, she wanted them to know it fell from the sky. They moved to Spokane in 1982. After moving to Shelton in 1995 Cherrie owned and operated the Christian Book store for seven years. She organized nine large community events, bringing all of the churches in Shelton together in unity. Cherrie loved to travel and spent time touring around Washington, Idaho, and Oregon as a motivational speaker. She volunteered on a mission trip that took her to Switzerland. And she and Doug took their young kids on all kinds of adventures: Niagara Falls, Mt Rushmore, and the Pacific Coast to name a few. Cherrie longed for sunshine and she and Doug found great joy in spending time each winter in Hawaii. Cherrie never knew a stranger. She is loved by everyone who met her and will be missed dearly. There will be a memorial service at Mt. View Alliance in Shelton on January 4th at 1:00 pm.
