Obituary of Deborah Boomhower

Please share a memory of Deborah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On December 26, 2024, Deborah Kay Boomhower passed away sometime that morning. Deborah was born in Alameda County the city of Alameda, California to parents Benjamin and Marie Bratcher on February 17, 1952. The Bratcher family later moved to Oklahoma where both of her parents were born. Years later, Deborah and I met at Bible Baptist Church in Ada, Oklahoma. We were married on September 28, 1987 in Gainesville, Texas. Deborah was at the time a CNA working in the nursing home and a home care provider. She also worked with children with disabilities. I worked for Coke a Cola and a member of the Oklahoma National Guard. I went to active duty in May of 1993. This move took Deborah away from many things that she loved. Family and friends are the work that she knew and loved. She diligent and passionate about finding a new career for herself, and she found that in Child Development and independent childcare. She did this in the child care centers and in our home. All throughout my career in the military and hers, wherever we were assigned she had this job she could always count on. She loved it. I remember a time when Deborah was caring for a child, the parents were duel military ( both parents were active duty military). This was their first born son and he had gained weight and wasn’t able to even crawl yet. The parents were so worried about him. Deborah took good care of him and got him to crawl in what seemed to be no time. She also cared for children with disabilities. She was los cleared and completely all her certifications. As my career in the military was ending, Deborah’s career came to an unexpected close as well. Due to illness she was forced to retire. Her health from this slowly declined. She still enjoyed camping and traveling and getting together with family and friends. Christmas and holidays until recent years. The joy of finding long lost relatives that for a lifetime had disappeared. Deborah Kay Boomhower lived a good full life. I am proud to have been her husband these 34 years. Deborah is survived by her husband Clifford Boomhower, Jeffery Boomhower, Jon (Mechele) Lillard, Gordon Lillard. Grandchildren: Lacey and Jordan Lillard, Brandy Cubbage, Dylan and Kayleb Lillard. Elizabeth and Benjamin Boomhower. Her nice Edith Vierck.
