Gene and i served on USS Sea Poacher in Key West during 1960-1962.
Gene was a very fine officer and pleasure to know.
We've been to many reunions together over the last 12 years.
I will miss him and send my condolences to Shirley.
Regards,
Bill Brinkman
USS Sea Poacher Association President

Gene and I were shipmates on the Submarine Sea Poacher for two years in the 1960s and were very close. As Ensigns I was junior and I took over his makeshift bunk in the Wardroom while he moved to a stateroom. Jacque and I even lived across a small patio from Shirley and Gene for several years on Laird Street in Key West. In the past 10 years we were able to reconnect in San Francisco, Norfolk, Jacksonville, Branson, and San Antonio. He was one of a kind. Be strong Shirley and family. Fran and I will miss him very very much. Lanny Yeske, Commander, U.S. Navy (Retired)
