Obituary of Alan Douglas Zenger

Alan Douglas Zenger, 63, passed away peacefully with his loving wife, Karen at his side in Shelton on April 17, 2015. He was born October 16, 1951 to Mare and Doris (Little) Zenger in Hobart , New York. He spent many idyll years in Hobart, hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He graduated from South Courtwright Central High School in New York and immediately enlisted in the Air Force for 4 years. He eventually became a Sargent in the Military Police and received Letters of Accommodation in the Vietnam for Performance of Duty. He came to Washington at the urging of Leonard Hunter, who was a neighbor in Hobart. He started working for Simpson Timber Company in 1973 at Camp Govey where he learned the fine art of high ground road construction. He then worked for Weyerhouser for 3 1/2 years. The final company he worked for was Kamin Excavation in 1989, where for 23 years he continued land clearing (including burning huge piles, which was his favorite) and building roads. Als' biggest passion was traveling , which he shared with his loving wife and soul-mate, Karen. He managed to visit 45 of the 50 states and 6 Canadian Provinces. He spent 7 happy years bowling with the Clark Logging Team and what a great bunch of guys they are.
