Obituary of Cecil M. Lister
Cecil Lister, 83, of Shelton, known as Buzz to family and friends, died peacefully in his sleep early in the morning on September 4th after a period of declining health and yet another disappointing loss by his beloved Seattle Mariners. A driver of race cars, Greyhound buses, motorhomes, fishing boats, and golf carts, Buzz grew up in Kent and was a 1948 graduate of Kent-Meridian High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve, a lifelong hunter of elk and deer, a relentless golfer, and a member of the Shelton Elks Lodge. A man who never minced words, Buzz was unwavering in his love and support for his family, completely without patience for fools, and the owner of a simple, non-negotiable set of morals. He was not a spiritual man. Buzz was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Louise of Harstine Island; his step-children, Charlene and Vern; and by Mickie, his second wife. He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie; his daugher Marjean and his son Dave; his step children Tammy, Will, Cheryl, Gary, and Tina; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren too numerous to mention. Per Buzz’s wishes, no memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you share a story, have a laugh, and lift a glass.
