Obituary of Earl Edmond Thornton
The great adventurer Earl Thornton began a new journey Tuesday, May 26th. He was born January 12, 1934, in Montreal, Canada. He was a retired long haul truck driver who loved travel, flirting with the ladies and a good bottle of gin.
Earl loved road trips. He drove all week for work, but couldn't wait to get home and hop back in the car with his family. His favorite destination was Las Vegas, Nevada. No matter where we were going somehow all routes ran through Nevada. Although not a great passenger, he once swore he would never get back in the car with his daughter again because of her driving, once he found out that she was going to Las Vegas he changed his mind.
Earl also loved the ladies. His wife was the love of his life but he never missed an opportunity to flirt with a pretty lady. No matter where we went, the bank, the grocery store, the ladies all knew Earl and he always made a point to say hello to them.
He loved to have a good time and cared deeply for the people around him. If anyone needed anything or was in a jam he would always help out, he never expected anything in return. He also loved animals and spent a great deal of time bird watching or feeding the neighborhood cat that "was not his" but spent every day at his house.
He is survived by his daughter Lindsay Verville; step-daughter Karen Layman; siblings Walter Thornton, Gregory Thornton and Vivian Roberts; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is reunited with his beloved wife and favorite dance partner Beulah; siblings John Thornton, Everelda and Edna; step-daughters Lynn Simpson and Lavonne Rigolo; and parents Walter Edmond Thornton and Vivian Delmage.
Services will be held Saturday, June 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Karen Layman's house.
He was the kindest and sweetest man I have ever known and he will be greatly missed.
