Maxine, Artie and Evan, I just today heard about your mom. I am so sorry; I would have been at the service on the 13th honoring her had I only known. I read the previous comments and thought to myself, yep, that's Betty! Always smiling, often laughing,. except when one of us kids caused trouble (. . . usually it was Artie, I'm sure!) We lived next door from the time I was six; Maxine and I were the same age and I spent many hours, days, and nights both at Bud and Betty's home in Skokomish Valley and up at the other end of the road at Grandma and Grampa Latzel's house. Good memories. She had a loving spirit and a generous heart and I know will be missed by her family and many friends.
I wish I could have been there to give you all a hug. You had a great mom, and I loved her too.
Sincerely,
Sandy Lyman Matye

We were so sorry to hear about Betty. She was just such a joy to know and I know she will be very missed by her family and friends. She always had a smile on her face and was always so happy! She taught me how to make door swags and centerpieces from the leftovers from the wreaths I used to make. We will think of her often! Ron and Linda Godwin

Dear Aunt Betty,
Hi. How are you doing up there? Have you seen uncle Bud, your parents, and my grandma Bernie? It just makes my heart sing to know that you're free. Free from a muddled mind, free from the pain and suffering that can go hand in hand with cancer. Boy do I ever love you! I was young when my grandma (your sister) passed away and you sort of stepped into that role....whether you knew it or not. Like your mother before you.....we all just were blessed with having you around, year after year.
I remember being really young and going to Tozier Brothers and seeing you there in the garden center.....a permanent fixture. To me, you WERE Tozier brothers. Oh and how we all loved seeing and holding the baby chicks every year. And the apples from yours and uncle Bud's trees were the best tasting around, it seemed.
I remember your hands, your smile, and your laugh. I will always remember you, Aunt Betty.
I love you so very much,
Your great-nephew,
Chad

I have so many wonderful memories with you, Grandma Mug. You were the best Grandma anyone could ever wish for or dream of having. I'll never forget the trips to Reno to the tree lot and all the fun we had down there on 7th and Keystone! You taught me how to make wreaths and centerpieces and you were so patient with helping me learn. I have fond memories of our trip to Alabama, then up to Washington, D.C. with you and Papa and how you and I couldn't wait to get to the Smithsonian to see the Hope Diamond. You had the best sense of humor and I have countless memories of laughing with you about one thing or another, especially when Papa would come up with one of his famous "Bud-isms." You always had an encouraging word, and were so supportive in every way. You never missed a softball game or a tennis match when I was in high school, and you always had a way of supporting my ideas, and encouraging me to follow my dreams. Growing up with a Grandmother like you was such a gift, and I'll never take for granted how lucky I was to have you in my life. I'm going to miss you so much, Grandma Mug. Love from, Bood
