Beverly and my grandma, "Tiny", were sisters. I grew up around them all my life. Saturday after church we would wind up at either Bev's or Grandma's for lunch and afternoon visits, music, etc. After sundown worship, we'd have popcorn and home made ice cream. I remember Beverly and Grandma would send their husbands to the store. They were emphatic about the type of milk needed for homemade ice cream. "Be sure it's Eaglebrand!" they would say several times. I don't know whether the men would have been let back in the house if they had ever come home with some other brand of milk!!
Beverly encouraged me in my music, especially since her late son, Martin, and I both played the piano. I will miss Bev and her humor, love, and compassion for everyone she met.
Rest in peace. I will see you in the morning. And, as the song says, "Until then my heart will go on singing. Until the day, God calls me home."
