Obituary of Bernard Lloyd Scoles

Bernard Lloyd Scoles, born 2/18/1926 in Burlington, WA to Harry & Helen (Hyde) Scoles died peacefully Oct. 2nd at home on Island Lake. He lived in Burlington, WA until he entered the Army in 1944. After serving 2 years as a Military Policeman he relocated to Shelton in 1950. He worked as a bartender at the Shelton Hotel and met his wife of 51 years, Chloe Jean Dickinson through mutual friends. Chloe preceded him on 2/26/2006. They resided at their home on Island Lake for 45 years where they raised their sons, Todd & Kirk. Bern worked several jobs in the Shelton area, retiring from Simpson Timber Company in 1985 after 32 years of service. However, he felt his most important job was his family. Nothing brought him more joy than his wife, children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. After retirement he could be found at Bayshore Golf Course, in his wood working shop, hunting or traveling the world with Chloe. Bern’s philosophy of life was “You may have to age but you don’t have to grow up.” Besides Chloe, he was preceded in death by his sister, Billie Felton. Survivors are: Sons: Todd (Stacey) Scoles of Grapeview, Kirk (Karen) Scoles, Grandchildren: Ryan (Johnathan) Scoles, Kristi (Ben) Savage all from Shelton, Russell Ashabranner of Tumwater and Casey Walton of Grapeview.
