Obituary of Lula Ann Cochran

Lula Ann Cochran Lula Ann Cochran, 95, passed away peaceably on October 30, 2015 in her home in Shelton, Washington. She was born on December 9, 1919 in Davidson, Arkansas to William Oliver and Annabelle Tibbits. She married Leonard Cochran on December 21, 1943 in Stillwell, Oklahoma. After their marriage they moved to Bentonville, Arkansas where they had three children. In 1955 they moved to Shelton, Washington for new employment opportunities and to be near their family. Lula enjoyed gardening, raising farm animals and pets, and tending her flower beds. She also was known for her excellent memory relating many stories about her family and friends that amazed everyone she knew. She found pride in penmanship and often sent out beautiful hand written cards and letters for special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, and funerals. Lula enjoyed talking on the telephone so that she could stay informed about the many people who she deeply cared about. If you received a call or called her you knew that you would be on the phone for quite a while. Lula loved to shop especially if she could find a bargain. One of her favorite places was Walmart. She liked to tell everyone she knew that when she lived in Bentonville, Arkansas she shopped at Sam Walton’s store in Bentonville before it became a Walmart. Surprising to many people was Lula’s passion for Seattle Mariner baseball. She rarely missed watching them on television during the good and bad years. When the team was on a losing streak she was just say “oh but they tried real hard”. Some of her favorite players were Randy Johnson, Edgar Martinez, Dan Wilson, Felix Hernandez, Joey Cora and Jason Vargas. And of course Lou Panela was her favorite manager. Lula was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard; parents, eight siblings, many friends and family including her granddaughter, Jessee Glee Cochran. She is survived by three children Darrell, Ronnie and Linda, their spouses, and numerous grand- and great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015, 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Shelton, 428 West Cota, Shelton, Washington.
