Obituary of Blair Vincent Tedford Fraser

Blair V Fraser, age 67, son of the late Rodrick Fraser, passed away peacefully at home on November 18th, 2015 in Tacoma, WA. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario and grew up in Port Angeles,WA. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, during which he became naturalized as a US citizen. Throughout his life he stated that he was proud to serve the Country his family had adopted. After returning from Vietnam, he worked as a Bushler in the Timber industry for three decades, both in Alaska and Washington. He completed his Bachelors degree in Accounting from TESC in Olympia, WA in 1990. Following graduation he met his partner and wife, Virginia. Together they raised a set of twins, Domonique and Sean Blair. On every birthday for the twins he would tell them, ”The day you were born was the happiest day of my life”. He was an avid fisherman and bow hunter and enjoyed camping and hiking all over the Olympic Peninsula. These trips were nearly always shared with family and friends. And the memories of these events are now deeply cherished by too many to count. He formed close relationships with numerous Veterans at the American Lake Veterans Hospital through his longtime efforts as a volunteer and Veterans activities. Offering camaraderie, encouragement or support as needed to his fellow service men and women. Throughout his adult life he wrote poetry related to his experiences or life events. These are now a part of the rich legacy he has left for us to enjoy. Just as significant are the character traits he modeled; cheerfulness, kindness to all he came in contact with and gentleness of heart. Blair is survived by his wife, Virginia, his children, Domonique and Sean Blair, his mother-in-law, Marian, siblings Ted and Carla, as well as seven nieces and nephews. As Blair often advised, we are moving forward by taking it, “ One day at a time.” A memorial service will take place at the Tahoma National Cemetery on Friday, December 11th at 2pm with a Celebration of Life Gathering following the service.
