Obituary of George Emory Fisher

George Emory Fisher, of Hoodsport WA, passed away at his home on October 26, 2017. George was born in Washington, D.C. on July 10, 1941 to parents Alverta Mae and Emory George Fisher. While serving in the Army National Guard, he worked in the Identification Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Benjamin Franklin University. He married Eileen Margaret Nader on September 7, 1963 in Washington, D.C. George was honorably discharged and became a Special Agent with the FBI in 1964 at the age of 23. He was transferred to nine offices throughout the country, including his promotion as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Seattle Office from 1980 to 1987 and Unit Chief in Washington, D.C., where he ended his FBI career. George’s distinguished 30-year career with the FBI spanned street-level investigations to high-profile cases to extensive investigations for Bureau, Justice Department, and special presidential appointments. Upon his retirement, he returned to Washington State where he founded a security and consulting business, George E. Fisher and Associates, for 20 years. George’s entire life was an example of service to others. Some of the groups he was involved with include: Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, Save the Lakes Coalition at Lake Cushman, Hood Canal Kiwanis, Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Camp, Firewise, Mason County Fire District 18, Shelton United Methodist Church, Lake Cushman Booster Club, and the Mason County Genealogical Society. He served as either President or Officer of many of these groups. He was a member of the Grand Lodge F.A.A.M. of the District of Columbia, Potomac, 5; Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Minneapolis; and Zuhrah Shriners, Minneapolis. George is survived by his wife of 54 years Eileen, son Steve (wife Theresa), daughter Julie Cannon (husband Bill), grandsons Devin Morasch and Reilly Cannon, brother Richard (wife Janet), and step-sister Linda Dunn (husband Earl). A celebration of life will be held at noon on Sunday, November 5th at Shelton United Methodist Church, 1900 King St. Shelton, WA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either: Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Camp – George Fisher Memorial Scholarship (P.O. Box 381, Olympia, WA 98507), a 501c3 organization, for high school juniors and seniors throughout the state who are interested in careers in law enforcement; or to Shelton United Methodist Church (1900 King St., Shelton, WA 98584) “Soup and Sound” program which hosts free soup and music as a gift to the community during the Christmas season.
