This year, 2023, Craig and I took our annual trip to Rock Island Fishing Camp, as we have done for many years with Stan. Knowing it was not going to be the same without him.
We stayed in our favorite cabin and placed one of Stan’s red fleece shirts at the head of his usual spot in front of the window with some of his ashes given to us by his wife, Angie.
We took the ashes to Grass Island, his favorite fishing spot on the lake. After giving our remembrance to our beloved friend of 50+ years, we spread his ashes. As we did this, the clouds parted and the sun shone down on us making it a wonderfully special moment.
It’s really hard to say goodbye to such a special friend who is more like family.
Stan was a devoted husband, loving son, brother and friend.
We have fifty plus years of making memories, and we will hold those dear. Stan will live in our hearts forever.
