Jim and his family lived next door to me on Jones Rd when we were young. Our neighborhood had lots of kids and we enjoyed those times playing together. I remember throwing a baseball through a glass pain in the front door! I ran home as fast as my legs could carry me.

Jim was always the "cool" cousin. He had the souped up Beetle with chrome tail pipes, a Datsun 240Z and he could always pee the furthest in the morning contest off Grandma Brehmeyer's back porch. In '77, he challenged me to a game of one-on-one. Jim broke his ankle and I had to drive him to St. Pete's. When I wrecked a lumber carrier by dragging the shoes across the rail road tracks in the Simpson yard, it was Jim that was called to straighten out the tracks so the Mill 5 train that Uncle Frank was running would still be on time. It was a family affair.
But most important is that Jim was an honest soul. He fought for what was right because it was right. That trait seems to run deep in the Brehmeyer blood. We all have it and we all know it. He fought his last battle as he lived is life: with courage and dignity. I will always look up to you dear cousin. You gave a lived a great example of how a "cool" cousin conducts himself - always and forever.
