Richard Thomas Peterson 1950-2023 Rick was born January 30, 1950 in St. Paul, MN to Fred and Catherine Peterson. The Peterson family later moved briefly to Wichita, KA then settled in Bellevue, WA. As a young adult, Rick began his career in the entertainment industry, initially in records and tapes and subsequently was on the ground floor of the movie video cassette business. During this time he relocated to Portland, Oregon where he established lifelong friendships that he treasured. While employed at CBS Fox his career allowed him to amass a wealth of tales almost as extensive as the amount of airline miles he flew. His successful career in sales continued through multiple industries until his retirement, and along the way he acquired more lifelong friendships and the companionship of one very special lady. Outside of family his passion was for golf. The game of golf permeated his existence; annual tournaments, family vacations, and early morning weekends all revolved around the sport. Rick embraced the challenge and the serenity of the game. Many of his favorite memories and his lasting relationships were forged on the greens. Another one of Rick’s favorite pastimes was dispensing advice - even if it was not sought. But his wisdom, breadth of experience, and compassion for humankind made his words carry tremendous value. The world is now a bit dimmer without the light from his twinkling eyes. Rick is survived by the love of his life and partner of 25 years, Susan Gallagher. With Susan, he found life to be deliriously joyful. He is also survived by his children, Rhea Richmond-Carmen (husband Jacob) and RJ Peterson; stepdaughters: Teri Larson (husband Brent), Sara Nicola. Grandchildren: Mikey, Lizzie, Orion, Avery, Bella, Addison and Madox. Siblings: brother, John Peterson (Christine), sister Barb Spence (Bob), Kate Cowan (Cathy) and Janet Hoffman (Paul) along with countless friends and fur babies April and Ava.
