In Loving Memory of Janet Martha (Fossum) Harper
Janet Martha Harper, born on November 14th, 1940, in Klamath Falls, embarked on her final voyage peacefully at her longtime home on Harstine Island February 19th, 2024. She was comforted by the love of her cherished dog, Gracie, and the memories of a life well-lived.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved Byron Pierce Harper, a loss that left an indelible mark on her heart, as well as her parents, Embert and Ruth Fossum. Their memory will forever be intertwined with hers, a testament to the enduring bonds of love and family. Janet leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her stepdaughters, Marilyn and Claudia, daughter-in-law Renate, five grandchildren - Harvey, Johnene, Teresa, Tiffany, and Stefa - as well as her many great-grandchildren and cousins. Though she may have departed this world, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
Janet's journey through life was marked by notable achievements and cherished connections. A proud graduate of Hampton High School, home of the Crabbers, Janet carried the spirit of her alma mater with her throughout her days. She furthered her education at Lewis and Clark University, earning her Bachelor's degree in Political Science. Those who had the privilege of knowing Janet will fondly remember her as a steady beacon of light in their lives. Her friendly demeanor, welcoming spirit, and fantastic sense of humor would brighten even the darkest of days. Janet's generous nature knew no bounds, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled. She found solace and joy in the pages of her extensive library, sailing the Puget Sound with her beloved husband, and sharing precious moments with many friends and family. These moments and memories created a legacy of love and laughter that will endure for generations to come.
As we bid farewell to Janet M Harper, let us take comfort in the knowledge that her spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear. Though she may be gone from our sight, she will never be forgotten. May her soul find peace in the eternal embrace of the water and ocean she so dearly loved. A celebration of Janet's remarkable life will be planned for mid-August, a fitting tribute to her love for the beach at Wit's End. This gathering will serve as a celebration, illuminating the fond memories for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
