Michael was a great person with a big heart and will be very missed. When my kids were growing up, Michael took time every Christmas Eve to dress up as Santa and deliver toys to my kids at Kay and Dad's house. They have very fond memories of that.
Someone once told me that you can tell a lot by a person by how they treat animals. Michael loved animals, whether it was his own dogs that he loved on or it was helping rescued or injured wildlife organizations, he cared for animals deeply.
I'm happy you are free from pain, Michael, but you will be missed here. I'll see you soon. xoxoxo Cathy

As you leave childhood and begin families of your own you often loose touch with the friends of your youth. Mike was one of those for me. He was like another big brother to me. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. My deepest sympathy and condolences for his family.

Mike was my older brother, the only brother in our family of 4 girls....poor guy!!
Not really:wink:
As kids we ran the hills behind 222 Gunnision Dam Road, Grand Junction, Colo. fearless & wild. Lizards were are friends since Dad would not let us near the rabbits, they were food. Those years are all of my childhood memories. I burned the chicken coop down playing with matches but Mike got the whippin'. We had lots of fights as sibling do but we're best friends. Him being 4 years older took good care to keep me out of trouble.
When we moved to S.L.C. Utah we were country kids to the big city. Scared, lots of car traffic & no gravel roads to ride our bikes on weird. When we got older we were up at 5 to go scoop snow in the winter for widows in the neighborhood, Mom set that up during the summer. OH yeah summer meant swimming at Liberty Park all day, lessons in the morning run home for lunch & back for open swim all afternoon. Those were the days.
We didn't stay in touch during my 20-30 but once we were all here in Olympia it was back to friends. But only seeing each other on holidays and when huggs were needed!! Mike gave the bestBear Huggs & at times I needed them often. I will miss that most. Of course I'll miss the Seahawks discussions after games.
What a blessing it has been to meet so many of his friends that he would let share life with. Brandy, Diane, Marlinda. THANK YOU SO MUCH for all you did to help him day to day. His pride would not allow him to ask me for much except his Jello Salad.
You were a "Dad" at times to my kids and I Thank YOU!! I am missing you so, I LOVE YOU Mike. I pray you are at peace. Kay

Michael was my “best guy friend for over 20 years. We lost track of each other for a few years, but somehow always managed to catch up with each other again. I made him nuts. It was my job. But in spite of irritating him from time to time, Michael was always the first one there to support me in the bad times and celebrate with me in the good times. He surrounded himself with a huge group of very diverse friends and family of all different ages, colors, and walks of life who had one thing in common – we loved him. Michael’s heart was just that big. I’m a better person for knowing him. We all are. Aloha for now Michael. I’ll make that run to the Brooklyn tavern like we planned. We will miss you forever. Give Marvin a hug for us. Fly free….

The shock of Michael's sudden death is still with me. While I knew his health was very challenging, the end came quickly and mercifull...just as he would want.
When I look back, I realize I left home at 17 and he was ten years old! While we saw each other from time to time, we didn't live in the same town until the early 80s when he moved to Olympia. So our tumultous relationship, clouded by drugs and drink until he became clean, meant for spotty times together. (He never considered pot drugs!)
After our mom died, we became closer. We saw each other as frequently as work and time allowed. I retired and moved to Sedona and he began to call me every Sunday. That went on for the next 13 years....if it was Sunday, it was a call from Michael. When I started going to the beach each summer, he was a big help. He repaired the fence, washed the outside of the trailer, and helped with yard work. Later when he began to be impaired with prostrate troubles, he still came and cooked oysters, ribs, and other yummy food. Lots of physical work was beyond him, but we had a great connection!
I miss Michael a lot. He was my only brother and the first sibling to die. Maks me feel vulnerable. At the end, I told him to get ready for me to join him and perhaps he will even cook a great meal again. I loved Michael and he cared and loved me. What else can one ask.
I am so happy he had such good friends and I join in thanking them for enriching his life and helping the family deal with his final years and days. I was thrilled to know he had so many people who cared so much about him. We will all miss him.......Shirley
